Maine Romance Writers is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting romance and other fiction writers via networking and programming. Through monthly meetings and workshops, we strive to provide continuing assistance in the journey to publication, whether by a traditional path, a small press, or independent publishing.

Laima Vince is the recipient of two Fulbright lectureships and
has traveled around Lithuania’s provinces and cities collecting oral histories
of partisan fighters, Holocaust survivors, exiles, victims of human
trafficking, and war refugees. A recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts
grant in Literature and a PEN Translation Fund grant, Laima is an award-winning
literary translator who has translated and published two collections of poetry,
five works of literary nonfiction, and two plays, in addition to writing
numerous essays, articles, stories, poems, and academic papers. She has an
accomplished career in education spanning two decades, and is a published
writer and playwright with professional literary ties in Europe, Hong Kong, and
the United States.
Laima holds a master’s degree in fine arts writing from Columbia
University School of the Arts in New York, and in 2014 earned a master’s degree
of fine arts in nonfiction from the University of New Hampshire. Laima
previously serviced as the faculty director of the Stonecoast Summer Writer’s
Conference, and currently serves as an assistant professor of English at the
University of Southern Maine where she teaches creative writing. Laima is the
winner of over a dozen professional awards for her work in writing and
teaching. The Maine Romance Writers couldn’t be more pleased to be hosting such
a decorated and skillfull writer, and warmly invite you to come and enjoy Laima’s
workshop at our April 16th meeting.
