Summer Happenings

Hello and welcome to Maine Romance Writers official website.  

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! As a reminder, we don't meet in July, and you must be a MRW member to attend our Camp Brainstorming event in August.  However, we love to welcome new members, so if you're interested please join our group!  click here for info

Now onto the fun happenings this summer...

It’s time to send your kids to summer camp. MRW is no different – we have our own version of summer camp. Send yourself for $12 and a bit of something to share for munchies or drinks. Saturday, August 16, join MRW members from all over the state converging on the Belgrade Lakes area for less than 24 hours, but their writing will never be the same. Earlier stories brainstormed at this camp have been sold to various publishers. Do you want in on that success? We bet you do.

This year, thanks to Maggie Robinson, we will gather at her house in Belgrade. We will continue the two-track format. Participants can sign up for the brainstorming sessions, where small groups will spend an hour working with one author and her book. Ideas will be shared, while someone else takes notes for the author. The information is most times exactly what the author needs. The author can take or leave any or all suggestions made. The second track participants can be a part of the motivational writing with a bit of friendly competition. Members can find a place to hunker down and write.

The cost of the event is $12 paid to Maggie to pay for gas, etc. Bring your bathing suit, food to share and a creative mind. The camp starts at 9 a.m. and work will begin around 10 a.m. Those who travel a long way are invited to stay overnight on Saturday.

Please RSVP to Judi at judiphillips @ roadrunner.com to make your reservation, indicate what you will bring for food and whether or not you plan on staying overnight. Once you are signed up, we will send out directions.
