February Meeting

Maine Romance Writers is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting romance and other fiction writers via networking and programming. Through monthly meetings and workshops, we strive to provide continuing assistance in the journey to publication, whether by a traditional path, a small press, or independent publishing.

Our next meeting is February 20th, 2016

Guest Speaker:
NINA PIERCE
"The Nuts and Bolts of Self-Publishing:
Another Addition to Your Writing Plan"
www.ninapierce.com

The world of publishing is an ever-changing environment. The path to publication is no longer clearly marked. Though traditional publishing is still a route many authors choose, with the book market becoming increasingly crowded, it may be difficult to find a publisher willing to take a chance on your novel—but letting your manuscript languish on your computer is breaking your heart. And now you’re toying with the idea of self-publishing, unsure if it’s right for you.

In this workshop Nina will walk you through step-by-step how to self-publish. From preparing your manuscript to finding professionals and uploading to retailers, she’s going to cover it all. Whether you have experience as a published author and are looking to expand your market or you simply want to jump in and put your debut novel out there, Nina will cover the upfront costs, the pros and cons and hopefully clear up misconceptions about the self-publishing world.

About Nina:
Even though it’s been 10 years since USA Today bestselling romance author, Nina Pierce, first put fingers to keyboard, it still amazes her that she hasn’t written all the stories swirling around in her head. But then again—the woman is never at a loss for words! A former science teacher, she now spends her days making stuff up, killing off imaginary people (who may or may not look a lot like her nasty neighbors) and finding her characters their perfect soul mate. Married to her high school sweetheart of thirty-something years, Nina believes everyone deserves a little sexy romance in his or her life!

Five years ago, after having 8 books traditionally published, Nina took a blind leap into the world of self-publishing. Now, with more than 10 self-published, re-released and new works, she’s figured out how to successfully navigate the shifting waters and loves to teach others what she has learned.
